JOHOR BARU: Pengerang will be developed into an international oil and gas hub within the next 10 years.
Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman said Pengerang has what it takes to become one.
“Pengerang is strategically located near major international shipping lanes and close to demand centres in the Middle East, India and China,” he said at the ground breaking ceremony of Pengerang Independent Deepwater Petroleum Terminal here.
With a deepwater draft of 24 metres, the terminal would be able to handle Very Large Crude Carriers' and Ultra Large Crude Carriers', he said.
